International Astronautical Congress Adopts Antalya Declaration on Space for Peace

Antalya:The 'Antalya Declaration on Space for Peace' was adopted with the support of 32 participants from 21 countries during the International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2026), hosted by Türkiye. It marks the first joint declaration in the history of the IAC Ministerial and Parliamentary Meeting.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Türkiye's Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacir, emphasized that the declaration is a shared commitment to peace, accountability, and international cooperation in space. The initiative for the declaration was taken by Türkiye in collaboration with the International Astronautical Federation and international partners.

The declaration aims to establish a common international approach toward the peaceful, sustainable, and responsible use of outer space. It also invites countries and international organizations that are not yet parties to the text to join the commitment.

The meeting, hosted by Minister Kacir, was attended by ministers, members of parliament, parliamentary delegations, heads of space agencies, and representatives of international organizations from 38 countries spanning Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

In addition, Kacir announced plans for Türkiye's first lunar spacecraft launch, scheduled for early 2027.
