Abu dhabi: Habitat International Coalition member Massa Kone has highlighted the ongoing migration issues affecting African villages, emphasizing the need for community-led solutions to housing and environmental challenges. Speaking at the 'Community-led Action for Adequate Housing, Land and Basic Services in the Face of the Climate Crisis' roundtable during WUF13, Kone discussed the coalition's efforts to address these issues through environmental and housing solutions.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Kone emphasized that, despite 50 years of experience and development in housing solutions, emerging realities reveal that these problems cannot be resolved without proper organization. He pointed out that the housing problem and the massification of housing are closely linked to the interests of large companies, stressing the importance of preserving community ties and people's relationship with the land.

Kone warned that the massification issue presents new challenges in housing and business sectors, potentially leading to significant social issues if communities fragment and people lose their livelihoods. He noted that while cities are expanding, villages are also evolving, and it is crucial not to overlook their development alongside urban areas.

Kone further explained that development models focusing on expensive, large-scale projects by financially powerful companies often sideline ordinary communities. He highlighted the need for development in rural areas that does not force poor residents to migrate due to the high costs associated with these projects.
