Head of Russia’s Investigative Committee Terminates Criminal Case on AZAL Aircraft Incident

Baku: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov addressed the recent developments concerning the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) aircraft incident during a press conference summarizing the year's outcomes. The incident's criminal case has been terminated by Russia's Investigative Committee, a decision that has sparked significant surprise in Azerbaijan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of Russia's Investigative Committee, communicated this decision to Azerbaijan through an official letter. The Azerbaijani authorities have expressed their expectations that the resolution will align with the commitments and apology expressed by the Russian President in Dushanbe. Minister Bayramov emphasized that the matter should be concluded in accordance with the discussions between the leaders of Russia and Azerbaijan, expressing optimism that further clarification will be achieved.
