Baku: We are connected to God through worship and meditation, but we can also do whatever it takes to protect our rights. This understanding has been embedded in the DNA of Sikh generations, and the struggles have continued for centuries. Despite being a minority, we won't bow to any oppressive regime, said Jaswinder Singh, Chairman of 'The Sikh Network' media portal, at an international conference in Baku titled "Racism and Violence against Sikhs and Other Minorities in India: The Reality on the Ground."

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Singh noted that the Sikh population in India is less than 2 percent of the total population. He mentioned that while India's current population is 1.4 billion, the number of Sikhs in Punjab is about 30 million.

"Despite this, the Sikh identity and principles define us, and our contributions to society are often valued higher than our real numbers," the Chairman emphasized.
