Heydar Aliyev’s Impact on Urban Development Highlighted by Presidential Administration

Baku: Heydar Aliyev's invaluable contributions to the development of the urban environment hold special significance, according to Samir Nuriyev, Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In an article marking the 103rd anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, Nuriyev emphasized the importance of transforming a country's residential spaces-its villages, settlements, and cities-as a reflection of a long-term development strategy.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the article highlights the initial manifestations of this strategic approach during Aliyev's first period of leadership in the Republic, from 1969 to 1982. During those years, significant steps were taken to accelerate industrialization, establish new production enterprises, and expand infrastructure. The construction of facilities of national importance gained momentum, driven by fundamental principles such as balanced development of residential areas, parallel construction of industrial and social infrastructure, and the integration of national architectural heritage into modern urbanization.

The National Leader's approach to urban planning and architecture was rooted in his philosophy of state-building, underscoring the strategic line that focused on the harmonious development of urban and rural areas. This vision contributed to the foundation of Azerbaijan's urban environment as observed today, laying the groundwork for future urban planning and development.
