Heydar Aliyev’s Statehood Model Key to Azerbaijan’s Victory, Says MP

Accra:A member of the Milli Majlis and the Board of the New Azerbaijan Party, Hikmat Babaoghlu, emphasized the significance of the statehood model established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, asserting that it paved the way for Azerbaijan's victory.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Babaoghlu highlighted that on October 3, 1993, Azerbaijan formed a legitimate government for the first time since gaining independence. Heydar Aliyev's leadership began with his election by a 98.8% vote, initiating a path toward building an independent Azerbaijani state. This period was marked by averting civil war, restoring state institutions, and laying the economic foundations for future development. The adoption of a new Constitution in 1995 further established the legal, political, and economic frameworks essential for the country's progress.

Babaoghlu noted that attempts to destabilize the government through coups were thwarted, leading to domestic political stability. The creation of a National Army under a unified command was a critical step in transforming Azerbaijan into a genuine national state. The achievements during Aliyev's leadership were validated by Azerbaijan's historic victory in 2020, reflecting the strength of the foundations laid in the 1990s.

He further stated that the independent Azerbaijani statehood, conceived in 1993, gained sufficient strength by 2020 to restore territorial integrity, a testament to the national and ideological solidarity forged under Heydar Aliyev's leadership. The strength of the state is rooted in national solidarity and comprehensive ideological, political, and economic foundations.

At the 8th Congress of the New Azerbaijan Party, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the philosophy of strength as central to Azerbaijan's future security, linking it to the strong state model initiated in the 1990s. This period from the 7th Congress in 2021 to 2026 is viewed as a transition from victory to sovereignty, marking the beginning of a stronger Azerbaijan.

Babaoghlu also mentioned that President Ilham Aliyev highlighted the necessity of strength to maintain peace, noting historical experiences with Armenia as a reason for caution. Amidst international uncertainties, the model of a strong Azerbaijan is seen as essential to safeguarding peace.
