Hikmet Hajiyev Highlights Azerbaijan’s Role as a Host for International Events

Baku: Azerbaijan has emerged as a prominent venue for hosting international high-level events, according to Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration. Hajiyev emphasized that Azerbaijan recently hosted COP29, one of the largest events within the UN framework. The successful organization of COP29 was followed by the hosting of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13), reflecting the trust placed in Azerbaijan by the international community and the United Nations.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Hajiyev highlighted that not all countries are equipped to host events of such magnitude under current global conditions. He pointed out that factors such as security, ongoing conflicts, organizational capacity, and the preparedness of cities are significant considerations that many countries struggle to meet. However, Azerbaijan's ability to successfully host major events underlines its readiness and the confidence the international community has in the nation.

Hajiyev further stated that the international community's trust, coupled with Azerbaijan's readiness and proven record of hosting significant events, has paved the way for the country to be chosen as the host for prestigious gatherings like the World Urban Forum.
