World Blind Union President Emphasizes Disability Inclusion at WUF13

Baku: The needs of persons with disabilities were taken into account at WUF13, Santosh Kumar Rungta, President of the World Blind Union, told APA. "The forum is very well organized. The event is quite accessible and I think the needs of various disability groups have been taken into account," he noted.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Santosh Kumar Rungta stated that his main expectation from the international forum is for governments to undertake concrete commitments in political declarations regarding the creation of an inclusive and accessible environment. He noted that the living environment, public services, and transport systems should be accessible to all segments of society.

Santosh Kumar Rungta emphasized that opportunities to obtain adequate housing and income are important for people to lead dignified lives. "People should have access to housing that ensures their dignity and creates adequate income opportunities for their livelihood," he remarked.
