Holocaust Victims Commemorated in Azerbaijan’s Red Settlement

Guba: On January 27, a thematic exhibition marking the International Holocaust Remembrance Day was opened at the Museum of Mountain Jews in the Red Settlement of Azerbaijan's Guba district. The exhibition featured photographs of Holocaust victims who were brutally murdered by the German Nazis at the Auschwitz concentration camp.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the event was attended by notable figures including Amy Carlon, U.S. Charg© d'Affaires in Azerbaijan; German Zakharyayev, President of the International Charity Foundation of Mountain Jews (STMEGI); and Vladislav Yusupov, Chief Curator of the Museum. Museum Director Igor Shaulov provided insights into the museum's activities, as well as the history, culture, and traditions of the Mountain Jews and their role in Azerbaijan's history.

In her remarks, U.S. Charg© d'Affaires Amy Carlon highlighted the importance of preserving the memory of the tragedy and combating antisemitism. The participants lit candles in memory of the Holocaust victims and concluded their visit by touring Azerbaijan's Red Settlement.
