ICDO Secretary General Strengthens Ties with Gulf Nations Through Official Visits

Abu dhabi: The Secretary General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Arguj Kalantarli, recently embarked on official visits to several member countries in the Gulf region, spanning from January 20 to 30. These visits were aimed at evaluating the civil defence capabilities in these countries and exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation in emergency preparedness and response, as stated by the ICDO to APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the visits served as a platform for discussions on the humanitarian activities of the Organization, particularly focusing on the situation in the Gaza Strip. The meetings also explored potential collaboration in humanitarian efforts across the region.

In Kuwait, Kalantarli engaged with the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, along with leaders from the civil defence authority and relevant training institutes. The discussions centered around the prospects for increased cooperation. The delegation also visited the Gulf Cooperation Council's Emergency Management Center to understand its operations better.

During his visit to Saudi Arabia, the Secretary General met with the head of the country's civil defence authority and visited institutes specializing in civil defence and emergency readiness. Additionally, a meeting with the President of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences was held to discuss collaboration in science and education.

In the United Arab Emirates, Kalantarli conducted meetings with the civil defence leadership and relevant agencies, where he also visited the Civil Defence Academy. A detailed presentation highlighted the Academy's activities, and discussions were held on future cooperation opportunities.

In Qatar, the Secretary General met with the Minister of State for International Cooperation to discuss ongoing and potential cooperative efforts. Furthermore, discussions with the head of Qatar's civil defence authority focused on joint exercises and advanced training programs.

Throughout these visits, the emphasis was placed on enhancing dialogue and practical cooperation, with both sides expressing optimism about the continued positive development of ICDO's relations with the Gulf countries.
