Lankaran: The trial of Igbal Abilov, who faced accusations of treason for executing tasks assigned by Armenian intelligence services, has reached its conclusion, as reported by APA. The Lankaran Court on Grave Crimes, under the supervision of Judge Khammad Nuriyev, delivered the verdict in the case.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Abilov received a sentence of 18 years in prison. His arrest followed a special operation carried out by the State Security Service (SSS), after having resided abroad. Abilov faced charges under several articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. These charges included Article 274, which pertains to state betrayal, Article 281.3, involving acts committed under the directives of foreign organizations or their representatives, and Article 283.1, which addresses actions aimed at inciting national, racial, or religious hostility.
