Baku:President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan has enacted an order pardoning several individuals who have been serving sentences, as reported by the APA.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the decision was influenced by the principles of humanism and followed the review of pardon requests submitted by the convicts, their families, and the Human Rights Commissioner of Azerbaijan. The evaluation considered various factors including the individuals' character, health, family circumstances, the seriousness of their offenses, the time already served, and their behavior during imprisonment.

As a result of the Order, 19 people serving prison terms and one person under a restriction of freedom order have been released from the remainder of their sentences.
