Paris – Azerbaijani judoka Ilham Zakiyev has won a bronze medal in the 90+ kg weight class at the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympic Games.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Zakiyev’s journey to the podium included a challenging quarterfinal match against French judoka Jason Grandry, which he did not win. However, his entry into the repechage rounds provided a new opportunity. Zakiyev went on to defeat Dutch competitor Daniel Knegt and subsequently Mongolia’s Ganbat Dashtseren in the bronze medal match, ultimately securing the third place in his category and adding to Azerbaijan’s medal tally at the games.
