Baku:The Azerbaijan Green Energy Company (AGEC) has identified the need to enhance implementation mechanisms for renewable energy projects. Deputy Chairperson Khayala Naghiyeva highlighted these issues during the 'German-Azerbaijani Strategic Partnership and Connectivity Conference 2026.'
According to Azeri-Press news agency, Naghiyeva pointed out that while regulations exist, there are procedural gaps that create challenges for investors. She emphasized the necessity for clear procedures that outline the process, including the sequence of obtaining permits, to facilitate easier navigation for investors.
Naghiyeva remarked that both the public sector and government should address these procedural gaps to create applicable mechanisms that provide step-by-step guidance for project implementation. She noted that although the initial projects involved a learning curve for both the government and local investors, there is now enough experience to document and streamline the process.
She further stressed that the lack of domestic and international connections could hinder the expansion of businesses in the renewable energy sector. Without appropriate power purchase agreements and energy buyers, she explained, investments in this sector might not be viable. Cross-border connections are crucial for scaling up these projects, she noted, emphasizing their importance in attracting and retaining investor interest.
