Baku: A series of information sessions titled 'New Challenges in Global Energy Markets: Reliable Partnership and Azerbaijan's Strategic Role' was launched on June 9, 2026, targeted at young media representatives as part of the Energy Dialogue Platform. This initiative, organized by SOCAR and the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, aims to engage journalists until July 3, 2026, in discussions on energy security, the global energy transition, and international energy market trends.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the sessions coincide with National Press Day and involve more than 30 media organizations. Participants will gain insights into SOCAR's upstream, midstream, and downstream operations through presentations, discussions, and field visits. Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, emphasized the importance of media roles in understanding and presenting energy developments. He described the sessions as a vital contribution to strengthening professional specialization within the Azerbaijani media, particularly in the energy sector.
Aygun Huseynova, SOCAR's Executive Director for Communications, highlighted the initiative's goal to foster a professional dialogue among energy stakeholders and enhance journalists' expertise in energy-related topics. The event featured presentations from SOCAR executives on various aspects of the company's activities, with SOCAR Vice Presidents discussing topics from exploration operations to the company's green agenda and international projects.
The event included discussions on SOCAR's historical projects, such as the Shah Deniz project, and its ongoing efforts in upstream projects abroad. Other topics included SOCAR's financial resilience, strategic projects in Trkiye, and workforce development initiatives. The event concluded with a Q and A session, where media representatives' questions were addressed, underscoring the collaborative approach of the initiative.
