International Military Sports Competition Commences in Baku

Baku, Azerbaijan - International sports competitions among cadets from military educational institutions of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Georgia began on November 6 at the Military Institute named after Heydar Aliyev, as reported by the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan to APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the opening ceremony included a tribute to the late National Leader of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev, and a minute of silence honoring the Shehids who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The National Anthem of Azerbaijan was performed by a military orchestra.

Speakers at the ceremony highlighted the significance of such events in promoting physical fitness among military personnel and wished success to the teams. The competition features 80 servicemen participating in football, volleyball, swimming, and athletics. The initial stage saw football and volleyball matches between Azerbaijani and Turkish teams. The winners of the competitions, which will continue until November 10, will be awarded diplomas, honorary certificates, and medals.
