Aghdam:A group of approximately 40 members from the Most Traveled People (MTP) international travelers' club, led by American traveler Charles Veley, visited Aghdam during their tour of Garabagh and East Zangezur. The delegation comprised travelers from 13 different countries.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the travelers began their visit at the Aghdam Juma Mosque, which was originally constructed between 1868 and 1870. The mosque, along with other historical and religious sites in the area, suffered vandalism during the Armenian occupation. It has since been restored by the Azerbaijani state following the liberation of Aghdam.
The group also explored the Imarat Complex, the former palace of Panahali Khan, the founder of the Garabagh Khanate. This 18th-century site includes the mausoleums of Garabagh's ruling family members, such as Ibrahimkhalil Khan, his son Mehdigulu Khan, and Mehdigulu Khan's daughter, the poet Khurshidbanu Natavan. The complex experienced significant damage during the occupation, but restoration and archaeological work are currently underway, involving both local and international experts.
In addition, the travelers observed newly constructed residential buildings and received briefings on the ongoing restoration efforts in the area.
This visit marks the 17th group tour by major international travelers' clubs to Garabagh and East Zangezur since 2021, providing participants with an opportunity to witness firsthand the extensive reconstruction and restoration projects in the liberated territories.
