KALBAJAR: A group of 33 international travelers from the British club Piki Reels is visiting the regions of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, with their itinerary including the areas of Kalbajar and Lachin. Led by Belgian citizen Yves Bouvy, the group aims to explore and promote Azerbaijan’s liberated territories as part of a broader initiative to boost dark tourism.

According to Trend News Agency, the Piki Reels club’s visit follows a series of trips by major international tourist clubs to the region. Since 2020, more than 400 travelers from over 50 countries have participated in 11 visits to Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur. The current expedition marks the 12th visit, highlighting the ongoing interest in the region’s historical and cultural significance.

The travelers previously toured Fizuli, Khojavend, Shusha, and Aghdam, gaining insight into the extensive construction and restoration efforts underway. These visits are crucial for showcasing the progress in rebuilding the areas and for increasing internation
al awareness and interest in Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage. The initiative underscores the importance of tourism in supporting the country’s development and promoting its history on a global stage.

The visits are particularly significant as they aim to transform perceptions by promoting the regions not only as sites of historical conflict but also as areas of renewal and cultural richness.
