International Travelers Explore Historical Sites in Shusha

Shusha:A 40-member delegation from the international travelers' club MTP (Most Traveled People) has visited Shusha, as part of their trip to Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the delegation was led by Charles Veley, an American and the founder of the MTP club. During their visit, the travelers first viewed bullet-damaged statues of prominent Azerbaijani figures Natavan, Bulbul, and Uzeyir Hajibeyli in Shusha's central square. They learned about the city's history, its condition during the occupation, and the ongoing restoration and reconstruction efforts following its liberation.

The visitors were informed that during the 30-year occupation, historical buildings, mosques, and other cultural monuments in Shusha suffered destruction and vandalism. Post-liberation, extensive restoration projects have been undertaken to restore the city's historical and cultural heritage.

The delegation also visited several notable sites, including the Lower Govhar Agha Mosque, Sadigjan's house-museum, the house of Khurshidbanu Natavan, the Khan Gizi spring, and the fortress walls of Shusha. Their visit concluded at Jidir Duzu, where they enjoyed panoramic views of the city.

This visit marks the 17th group visit organized by international travelers' clubs to Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur between 2021 and 2026. These visits allow travelers to witness the restoration and reconstruction work in the liberated territories. The travelers, hailing from 13 countries, including the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, also visited Isa Spring in Shusha and were briefed about the area's history and nature. They are expected to explore additional historical and cultural sites in Shusha.
