Canadian Author Anne Carson Wins 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature

Stockholm:The 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to Canadian author Anne Carson, as announced by the Nobel Committee for Literature at the Swedish Academy.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Carson received the prestigious award for her "bold and inventive oeuvre that, in playful dialogue with the classical tradition, has created new forms for contemporary literature."

Throughout her career, Carson has uniquely combined poetry writing with translation work and teaching at various universities. Her literary work often explores the intersection between a philologist's fascination with words and a poet's quest for new meaning. The committee highlighted that Carson has identified the etymology of words as the foundation of her creative process.

A native of Toronto, Carson is a renowned English-language writer, poet, essayist, and translator. Born in 1950, she studied at the University of Toronto and has taught at numerous universities in the United States and Canada.
