International Travelers Observe Demining Operations in Azerbaijan’s Fuzuli District

Fuzuli: A group of 33 international travelers from Great Britain’s Piki Reels Club, led by Belgian citizen Yves Bouvien, began their visit to Azerbaijan’s Fuzuli district, where they observed ongoing demining operations. The travelers were briefed on the contamination issues resulting from the presence of mines and unexploded ordnance left by the Armenian army during the occupation period.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the group arrived in Horadiz village within the district and witnessed the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) staff conducting detonations of mines and unexploded ammunition. The visit aimed to raise awareness of the extensive demining efforts required in the region.

Before their visit to Fuzuli, the travelers explored the Jabrayil district and the historic Khudafarin Bridge. The journey is part of a series of organized trips to Garabagh and Eastern Zangezur, which have welcomed over 400 international travelers from more than 50 countries between 2020 and 2024. These e
fforts are part of broader initiatives to promote understanding and awareness of the region’s post-conflict recovery efforts.
