Baku: Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting with Ugochi Daniels, Deputy Director General for Operations of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), who is in the country for the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13). The discussions centered on the current state of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the IOM, potential joint activities, and shared interests in migration management.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, both parties appreciated the strong dynamics of Azerbaijan's long-standing relations with UN specialized agencies, particularly the IOM. They emphasized the significance of joint initiatives aimed at enhancing migration governance mechanisms.
During the meeting, Bayramov provided an update on ongoing infrastructure projects and economic recovery efforts in Azerbaijan's liberated territories. He noted that the sustainable and phased return of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) is a key government priority and is being successfully implemented.
Ugochi Daniels expressed commendation for Azerbaijan's migration reforms, particularly the efforts related to the return of IDPs and the Great Return program. Daniels also conveyed readiness for continued cooperation between the IOM and Azerbaijan in these endeavors.
