BAKU: Several international flights were diverted to Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku following the closure of Iranian airspace. The unexpected detour led to emergency landings for aircraft en route to destinations in the Middle East.

According to Trend News Agency, the affected flights included a Jazeera Airways flight traveling from Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport to Kuwait, as well as multiple Fly Dubai flights originating from Budapest, Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport, Minsk, Kazan, and St. Petersburg, all headed to Dubai. An Air Arabia flight from Moscow to Sharjah also made an unscheduled stop in Baku.

Heydar Aliyev International Airport swiftly mobilized resources to accommodate the diverted flights, ensuring that all necessary services were provided promptly and efficiently. The airport’s response was crucial in managing the influx of unexpected arrivals, maintaining safety and order during the disruption.
