Iran Releases Updated Currency Exchange Rates for August 18

Tehran: The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has announced the official exchange rates for foreign currencies as of August 18.

According to Trend News Agency, the newly released rates indicate that the value of 42 currencies increased, while three currencies decreased in value compared to the rates on August 17.

The official rate for the US dollar is now set at 574,519 rials, showing an increase from the previous day’s rate of 573,121 rials. Meanwhile, the euro has risen to 671,981 rials from 670,856 rials. The British pound, Swiss franc, and Swedish kr³na have also seen slight increases, with the British pound now at 778,943 rials, the Swiss franc at 712,041 rials, and the Swedish kr³na at 60,104 rials.

Other currency changes include the Norwegian krone at 56,353 rials, up from 56,198 rials, and the Danish krone at 90,081 rials, an increase from 89,859 rials. The Indian rupee has risen to 6,565 rials, and the UAE dirham is now valued at 156,438 rials. Significant increases are also observed in the Kuwaiti dinar, Omani rial, and Canadian dollar, with the Kuwaiti dinar reaching 1,876,626 rials, the Omani rial at 1,492,644 rials, and the Canadian dollar at 415,994 rials.

The CBI has implemented the SANA system for currency exchange offices, where the euro is priced at 842,769 rials and the US dollar at 720,536 rials. The NIMA system, designed for selling a percentage of foreign currency earned from exports, lists the euro at 818,221 rials and the US dollar at 699,549 rials.

In the informal black market, the US dollar trades at approximately 931,000-934,000 rials, while the euro is valued between 1.06-1.09 million rials. These figures highlight significant disparities between official rates and black market valuations, indicating ongoing volatility in Iran’s currency exchange environment.
