Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received a delegation led by the Chairman of the Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy of the Iranian Parliament, Mojtaba Zonnuri.
The Foreign Ministry said that Bayramov expressed hope that the visit of the Iranian parliamentary delegation will serve to expand cooperation between the two countries. He noted that Iran has always supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, the inviolability of its borders. At the same time, the support of Iran at all levels during the 44-day Karabakh war was especially highly appreciated, Bayramov said.
Zonnuri, in turn, congratulated the Azerbaijani state and people with the victory in the war, stressing Iran’s support for the legitimate position of Baku and its solidarity with Azerbaijan.
The parties noted the great potential for the further development of bilateral cooperation and the expansion of parliamentary ties can contribute to this.
The new situation in the region opens up wide opportunities for the implementation of a number of cooperation projects. Cooperation between the two countries at the international level was also noted with satisfaction.
The parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
