Iran’s Ambassador Expresses Gratitude to Azerbaijan Amid Tensions

Baku: Mojtaba Demirchilou, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Azerbaijan, expressed gratitude to the state and people of Azerbaijan during a press conference at the Iranian Embassy in Baku.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the ambassador emphasized the measures taken by Iran under the right to self-defense, as recognized by international law. He noted that if attacks and aggression from the opposing side persist, Iran would not remain unresponsive. The ambassador thanked Azerbaijan for its show of solidarity during this challenging period, highlighting the shared culture and strong relations between the two nations, affirmed through both official and informal messages of condolence.

The ambassador recalled that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev extended condolences to Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian. He also highlighted a telephone conversation between Foreign Ministers Jeyhun Bayramov and Seyed Abbas Araghchi, during which Azerbaijan's official position was reiterated. This position emphasizes that Azerbaijan will never permit its territory to be used for any threat against Iran. The ambassador added that Azerbaijan's senior officials have consistently and publicly affirmed this stance.
