Israeli President’s Commercial Flight to Baku Misrepresented in Türkiye

Baku:Israeli President Isaac Herzog traveled to Azerbaijan on a commercial flight, accompanied by his aide and a small delegation. This straightforward travel arrangement has been misrepresented in Türkiye, sparking an unfounded uproar.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, claims circulating in Türkiye about Herzog's visit lack any basis. The Israeli President and his delegation simply purchased tickets and flew on a regular Baku-Tel Aviv-Baku route, without any special arrangements.

In Türkiye, certain individuals have manipulated this routine journey, although applying similar scrutiny to passengers of Turkish Airlines or other commercial flights would seem unreasonable. Herzog's travel was a conventional passenger journey, and there is no factual ground for controversy over the manner of his arrival in Baku.

Herzog was in Azerbaijan to attend the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). The matter has been unnecessarily politicized despite the significant bilateral relations between Türkiye and Israel.
