Istanbul: The 5th meeting of the Energy Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States took place in Istanbul, emphasizing the significance of energy cooperation in strengthening the geopolitical influence of the member states. Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, highlighted the pivotal role of such collaboration during the meeting.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, Minister Shahbazov underscored the importance of the Zangezur corridor, citing ongoing efforts towards its opening. He noted that the corridor is set to enhance unity among Turkic states, stating, “The creation of these corridors and their future interconnection will both develop regional energy trade and accelerate global renewable energy flows. These projects will further strengthen our countries’ strategic position in Europe’s energy supply and form a new geoeconomic architecture of energy cooperation in the Eurasian space.”
Trkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, addressed the assembly, recalling the upcoming COP31 UN Climate Change Conference scheduled to be held in Antalya in November 2026. He extended his congratulations to Azerbaijan for hosting the 29th conference and extended an invitation to all participants to attend the event in Antalya.
