Italy-Azerbaijan University Graduates to Propel Azerbaijan’s Development: President Ilham Aliyev’s Vision

Baku: President Ilham Aliyev expressed his optimism about the future contributions of Italy-Azerbaijan University graduates to Azerbaijan’s development during the inauguration of the university’s first campus in Baku.

According to Trend News Agency, President Aliyev emphasized the significance of the university in strengthening Azerbaijani-Italian relations, highlighting its potential to become a global educational hub. He noted the strategic partnership between the two nations, underscoring the importance of cooperation in education alongside existing collaborations in energy and industrial sectors.

President Aliyev recalled his meeting with President Mattarella in Rome, where the establishment of the university was discussed. He expressed satisfaction with President Mattarella’s acceptance of the invitation to visit Azerbaijan and participate in the inauguration. The inclusion of the inauguration in the official visit program highlighted the importance both countries place on educational collaboration.

The university, a collaboration between Azerbaijan and five leading Italian universities, along with ADA University, is expected to play a pivotal role in Azerbaijan’s educational landscape. President Aliyev highlighted the strategic nature of Azerbaijani-Italian relations, which have expanded beyond energy cooperation to include education, demonstrating a long-term partnership.

The president also reflected on the successful Azerbaijani-Italian cooperation in the energy sector, particularly the TAP project, which is part of the Southern Gas Corridor. He credited President Mattarella’s support in facilitating the project, which now contributes to the energy security of several European Union member states.

President Aliyev expressed confidence that Italy would become a key partner in Azerbaijan’s education sector, envisioning the university as a center of Azerbaijani-Italian friendship. He emphasized the role of the university in fostering cultural exchange and enhancing human capital for Azerbaijan’s future economic growth.

In closing, President Aliyev celebrated the rapid establishment of the university, noting the significant progress made since the initiative was proposed five years ago. He reiterated the university’s potential to strengthen ties between Azerbaijan and Italy, contributing to both countries’ development.
