Baku: A Joint Transport Committee between Iran and Azerbaijan will begin operating in the coming weeks, said Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, Farzaneh Sadegh APA reports. She stated that the purpose of creating the committee is to accelerate the implementation of joint projects in all areas of transportation, including rail, road, air, and maritime transport.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Farzaneh Sadegh added that extensive discussions were held within the framework of the committee during her meeting with Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev. The minister also noted that during the visit, additional agreements were reached in the fields of trade, transport, energy, and oil and gas.
In preparation for the upcoming visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Azerbaijan, agreements related to border issues, transport, customs, trade, ports, and maritime affairs will be drafted. She emphasized that in recent years, Iran and Azerbaijan have successfully implemented j
oint initiatives in the field of transit and transport, and a new phase in bilateral relations is expected to begin.
