Brussels:Jordi Xuclà, Vice President of the Ágora Diplomática, emphasized the significant role of Azerbaijan for the Council of Europe at the Azerbaijan-European Union Think Tanks Forum in Brussels. The forum was co-organized by the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) and Belgium's Egmont - Royal Institute for International Relations.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Xuclà stated that the Council of Europe needs Azerbaijan much more than Azerbaijan needs the Council of Europe. He praised Azerbaijan's foreign policy, highlighting its successful model of multi-vector diplomacy achieved through smart and forward-looking initiatives in recent years.
Xuclà also discussed Azerbaijan's strategic approach, which he described as based on the principle of 'radical patience.' This strategy involves waiting for the opportune moment to act while considering Russia's potential response, particularly in the context of its role in the 2020 war. Xuclà believes this approach has been instrumental in advancing Azerbaijan's regional initiatives.
Additionally, Xuclà commented on the European Parliament, noting that although it possesses broad powers in various domains, foreign policy is not one of them. He observed that domestic political developments within individual countries and the interests of specific voter groups have a substantial impact on the positions taken by the European Parliament.
