Yekaterinburg: The Kirovsky District Court of Yekaterinburg has formed the jury panel for the case of Shahin Shikhlinski, leader of the Azerbaijani diaspora in the Urals, and others, as reported by APA's Russia bureau, citing the Kirovsky District Court. The jury has been established for a criminal case involving charges of murder and attempted assassination.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, seven defendants, including Shahin Shikhlinski, are currently on trial. The jury panel is scheduled to commence deliberations on January 26 at 14:00.

In June, Russian law enforcement agencies conducted an operation targeting Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg. This operation involved the use of force, leading to the deaths of Azerbaijani nationals, brothers Ziyaddin and Huseyn Safarov, due to injuries sustained. Additional members of the Safarov family and several compatriots were subsequently arrested by court order. They are facing charges related to alleged crimes committed in 2001, 2010, and 2011. Following these events, Shahin Shikhlinski and his son, Mutvali Shikhlinski, were detained. Mutvali Shikhlinski is charged with using violence against a state representative, while Shahin Shikhlinski faces accusations of attempted contract killing and using violence against a state official.
