Kamila Aliyeva: Signing a peace agreement with Azerbaijan is the only way out for Armenia

On June 15, 2021, a historic event took place in Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, which was dreamed of by the Azerbaijani and Turkish peoples. The signing of the Shusha Declaration by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as well as the decision of Turkey to open a consulate general in Shusha will give a prosperous life to Azerbaijanis living in Karabakh.

AZERTAG to the statement, MP Kamila Aliyeva said.

Aliyeva said the declaration would ensure the development of relations between the two countries in all areas, including political, economic and humanitarian. The signing of this Declaration gave the message that peace, friendship and partnership between all countries of the world are possible. The Shusha Declaration is a document that serves the development of the countries in the region, the peace, tranquility and prosperity of all peoples living in these countries. It has created conditions for Azerbaijani citizens of Armenian origin in Karabakh to live prosperously within the laws of our country.

Noting that Armenia is currently in a state of political and economic crisis, the MP said: “It is well known that the reason for the deplorable situation in Armenia is the separatist Armenians. Both Armenian politicians and ordinary Armenian people openly admit this. Former Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosyan and political circles close to him openly emphasize that Karabakh belongs to Azerbaijan in terms of international law. Many human rights activists and political bloggers tell the people that the war will not benefit the Armenians and that it is important to live in peace and harmony with the Azerbaijanis. Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan also expressed support for the signing of a peace agreement with Azerbaijan.

Noting that the United States is also interested in normalizing relations between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Armenia, Aliyeva said that on June 8 this year, the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee held a hearing on President Biden on fiscal year 2022. During the hearings, several pro-Armenian senators tried to accuse the State Department of supporting Azerbaijan by suspending the 907th Amendment to the Freedom Support Act. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken gave a diplomatic answer to this question, saying that “work is underway on these and other details.” The expectations of the Armenian National Committee of America and the Armenian society regarding the hearings in the Senate did not come true.

According to the MP, after the meeting of the US and Turkish presidents within the framework of the NATO Summit on June 14, both presidents said that there were no serious problems between Turkey and the United States and the areas of cooperation were larger. However, before the meeting, the Armenians thought that the US President would react harshly to the meeting of the leaders of Turkey and Azerbaijan. This wish of the Armenians was completely in vain. Armenians, who are always waiting for help from someone, should finally understand that the only way to save them is to establish good relations with Azerbaijan.

“Today, large investments are being made in Shusha and other liberated lands. In just a few years, these areas inhabited by Azerbaijanis will be so economically prosperous that Armenians themselves will look for opportunities to live and work in such a strong state. They will have no expectations from the poor Armenian state. The political and economic situation in Armenia itself is very difficult. “The signing of a peace agreement with Azerbaijan is the only way out for Armenia,” he said.
