Baku: Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has underscored the significance of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) being hosted in Baku. During the opening ceremony, Bektenov remarked on the city's unique blend of historical heritage and modern architecture as a fitting backdrop for discussions on global urban challenges.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Bektenov highlighted WUF13's role as a crucial platform for enhancing international collaboration on urbanization, climate change, housing, and sustainable urban development. He outlined Kazakhstan's focus on infrastructure development and resource management, emphasizing the protection and sustainable use of water resources as a vital aspect of the nation's urbanization strategy.
The Prime Minister mentioned the recent adoption of a new Construction Code in Kazakhstan, which sets standards for architectural quality and urban construction. He expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani government for their efforts in organizing the forum, reiterating the appropriateness of Baku as the event's host city.
