BAKU—On September 9, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, initiated a phone call to Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, to discuss a range of topics including recent electoral outcomes, cultural events, and strategic partnership developments.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Tokayev began the conversation by congratulating President Aliyev on the New Azerbaijan Party’s decisive victory in the recent parliamentary elections. President Aliyev thanked him for the congratulations and expressed appreciation for Kazakhstan’s hospitality during the Consultative Meeting of Heads of States of Central Asia.
The discussion also covered the successful organization of the 5th World Nomad Games hosted by Kazakhstan, with President Aliyev commending the active participation of Azerbaijani athletes. The cultural ties between the two nations were further highlighted by the successful conduct of Azerbaijan Cultural Days in Kazakhstan, underlining the deep-rooted strategic partnership between the two countries.
A significant development discussed during the call was Kazakhstan’s offer to host peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Astana. President Aliyev responded positively to the proposal, acknowledging it as a suitable venue for such negotiations.
The leaders also exchanged views on various issues pertinent to the bilateral agenda, aiming to further enhance the cooperative relations between their nations.
