BAKU—Bakcell, Azerbaijan’s first and largest private telecommunications operator, has entered into a strategic partnership with Vodafone Group, a major player in telecommunications across Europe and Africa, to enhance its service offerings and digital transformation efforts in Azerbaijan.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the partnership stems from a broader agreement signed this year between Vodafone and Azerconnect Group, under which Bakcell, as an affiliate, will gain access to Vodafone’s extensive expertise and cutting-edge technologies, including AI-based solutions. Vodafone, serving over 330 million customers across 15 countries and partnering with networks in an additional 45, brings a wealth of experience and innovation potential to the collaboration.
Klaus Mueller, CEO of Bakcell, emphasized the significant impact of the partnership on Bakcell’s market position and its ability to offer the latest innovative solutions to its subscribers. “This partnership will accelerate digital transformation in the country and significantly contribute to the application of future technologies,” Mueller stated.
Petr Dvorák, CEO of Vodafone Partner Markets, highlighted the collaborative approach Vodafone employs with global telecom operators, sharing best practices in network design, operational efficiency, and customer support. “We are excited about the opportunity to help Bakcell develop its business over the years ahead for the benefit of its consumers and business customers in Azerbaijan,” Dvorák added.
Bakcell serves over three million customers, providing high-quality and fast telecommunications services and is noted for its significant contributions to Azerbaijan’s sustainable development through innovative and AI-based solutions. As part of NEQSOL Holding, Bakcell continues to be a major investor in Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector.
