Astana: Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev recently convened with a delegation from the German Tourism Association (DRV) and leading German tour operators to discuss strengthening tourism collaboration between the two nations. Kosherbayev stressed the importance of enhancing socio-economic ties with Germany, highlighting tourism as a vital component of their growing partnership.

According to Trend News Agency, the meeting focused on elevating Kazakhstan’s profile as a premier tourist destination for the German market. Discussions included the potential of hosting the DRV Destination Forum in Kazakhstan by 2026, marking a significant step in fostering mutual interest and partnership development.

Norbert Andreas Fiebig, President of the German Tourism Association DRV, expressed enthusiasm about Kazakhstan’s tourism potential, citing its unique nature, cultural heritage, and modern infrastructure as key attractions for German tourists. He noted that German travelers spend over 85 billion euros annually on travel, suggesting Kazakhstan could become a favored destination.

The German delegation’s visit itinerary includes stops in Astana, Almaty, and Baikonur, allowing them to assess Kazakhstan’s tourism offerings and explore potential joint projects. Kosherbayev concluded by expressing optimism that joint efforts will strengthen the friendship between Kazakhstan and Germany.

Kazakhstan ranks as Germany’s 43rd largest foreign trade partner as of 2024 and is a crucial partner in Central Asia, accounting for 83 percent of Germany’s trade in the region. The bilateral initiatives between the two nations total over $54.4 billion, with 32 projects completed and 12 underway, including significant infrastructural developments.
