Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan Submarine Fiber-Optic Communication Lines Project to Be Completed by End of Next Year

Aktau: The ‘Roadmap for 2022-2027 on the Development and Operation of the Middle Corridor’ was signed in Aktau in 2022, focusing on the territories of Trkiye, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan. This document aims to enhance the transport and logistics infrastructure among these countries. It outlines plans for optimizing operations, attracting additional cargo flow, implementing a unified tariff policy, developing a network of logistics centers, and addressing other key issues.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, a significant infrastructure project under this roadmap is the construction of submarine fiber-optic communication lines beneath the Caspian Sea, linking Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. The construction contract for this project was signed in March 2025 in Baku, with completion expected by the end of 2026. This development is anticipated to bolster digital integration between the nations, as emphasized by President Ilham Aliyev in an interview with Kazinform.
