Aktau: Kazakhstan is extending restrictions on operations at the “Tazhen” border post, known as “Daut-Ota” on the Uzbek side, for another four months, continuing until the New Year, as reported by the Kazakhstan State Revenue Committee.

According to Trend News Agency, the border crossing will continue to operate in a limited capacity until December 31, 2025. During this period, the post will remain closed to individuals as well as passenger cars, buses, and trucks under 3.5 tons. This measure is part of ongoing renovations at the “Tazhen” crossing point, which include repairs to administrative buildings and concreting of the road surface. The extension of restrictions aims to ensure safety during border crossings and to accelerate the completion of construction work, the Committee stated.

Heavy trucks will still be permitted to cross the border through the “Tazhen” – “Daut-Ota” crossing, as they have been. To accommodate passengers, additional passenger trains will be operational on the Nukus – Beineu route via the “Karakalpakstan” border checkpoint. The Tazhen – Daut-Ota crossing was originally closed to individuals, passenger cars, buses, and light trucks starting on February 1, although heavy truck traffic has continued. Initially, the plan was to complete the renovation work within three months.
