Kazakhstan Set to Boost Oil Transport via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline

Baku: Kazakhstan is prepared to increase its oil transportation through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline to 2.2 million tons annually, as announced by Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Erlan Akkenzhenov. This statement was made during an interaction with journalists at the 31st Baku Energy Forum.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Kazakhstan is exploring all possible routes for exporting its oil. The country initially planned to transport 1.5 million tons per year through the BTC pipeline but is now ready to elevate this volume to 2.2 million tons. Minister Akkenzhenov highlighted that the protocol also allows for even greater transportation volumes in the future.

Minister Akkenzhenov pointed out that there is sufficient technical capacity to handle increased oil volumes through the Port of Aktau. He also mentioned that while Kazakhstan is keen on expanding its export routes, any decisions will be contingent upon the technical capabilities of its partners. Until existing limitations are resolved, Kazakhstan intends to continue redirecting oil flows to alternative ports and terminals.
