Kazakhstan to Host Third Meeting of Heads of OTS Mapping Institutions in 2026

Baku: Kazakhstan will host the third meeting of the Heads of Mapping Institutions of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in 2026, as announced by Rashad Ismayilov, First Deputy Minister of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, during the second meeting of the Heads of Mapping Institutions of OTS in Baku.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting is expected to significantly enhance operational information sharing within OTS over the coming years, supporting regional management with more accurate maps. Rashad Ismayilov mentioned that in line with the Declaration adopted in Ankara in 2024, the preparation of a Unified Thematic Map of the OTS countries is a key topic of discussion. Ismayilov highlighted the potential for expanded cooperation in mapping and expressed Azerbaijan’s readiness to contribute actively. He emphasized that current cooperation is grounded in solidarity, common language, culture, and strategic values outlined in the Nakhchivan Agreement and the Turkic World 2040 Vision. Ismayilov conveyed confidence that the discussions would be constructive and that the mutual exchange of experience and knowledge would invigorate the development of mapping cooperation.
