Almaty: One of Kazakhstan’s largest airlines, SCAT Airlines, will launch a direct flight between Kazakhstan and Latvia in spring 2026.

According to Trend News Agency, the announcement was made during a Kazakhstan-Latvia Business Forum held in Almaty, which was attended by around 50 representatives of the business communities of both countries.

The introduction of the new flight is expected to enhance passenger travel, strengthen business and cultural ties, expedite project developments, and open new avenues for tourism and trade between the two nations. During the forum, it was noted that Kazakhstan views Latvia as an important and reliable partner, while Latvia considers Kazakhstan a strategic bridge between Asia and Europe. The event provided a venue for discussing new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.

The forum highlighted positive trends in Kazakhstan-Latvia transport cooperation, emphasizing the significant role played by Latvian ports in Riga, Ventspils, and Liepaja in facilitating transit exports from Kazakhstan. These ports are crucial elements of the logistics chain connecting Central Asia and Europe. Participants also pointed out the substantial potential for railway cooperation, noting an increase in freight traffic, and expressed confidence that direct air connections will be a significant step in fortifying bilateral relations.
