Bishkek: Kyrgyzstan is set to establish a pioneering data processing center powered entirely by renewable energy sources, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), as reported by Trend News Agency through the Center for Public-Private Partnership (PPP) of Kyrgyzstan.

According to Trend News Agency, the Ministry of Digital Development of Kyrgyzstan and the ADB recently inked an agreement to provide consulting support for the preparation of a PPP project aimed at creating this innovative facility. This development is part of a broader initiative to accelerate the digitalization and adoption of renewable energy sources within the country. The statement from the PPP Center highlighted that this agreement initiates a new phase of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and ADB, focusing on these critical areas.

The upcoming data center will be among the first in the region to operate solely on renewable energy, which is expected to significantly reduce Kyrgyzstan’s carbon footprint and bolster its energy in
dependence. The ADB’s role under the agreement includes supporting the preparation of a feasibility study, developing bidding documents, and drafting a comprehensive project implementation plan. The feasibility study will be funded by grant resources, ensuring no financial burden on the state budget.

The establishment of the data center is also anticipated to generate new opportunities for private investors in the energy and technology sectors, positioning Kyrgyzstan as a leader in sustainable technology infrastructure in Central Asia.
