Bishkek: Kyrgyzstan has officially proposed to the United States to establish direct flight connections, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations and facilitate easier travel for its citizens, Trend News Agency reported.

According to Trend News Agency, during a meeting with US Ambassador Lesslie Viguerie, Deputy Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament, Nurbek Sydygaliev, highlighted the considerable number of Kyrgyz nationals traveling to the US as a primary reason for the proposal. Sydygaliev also discussed enhancing other aspects of bilateral cooperation, such as extending Kyrgyzstan’s status under the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP+). He thanked the US for extending the visa validity for Kyrgyz citizens to 10 years and suggested that similar extensions should be applied to student visas. Additionally, he proposed including Kyrgyzstan in the list of countries eligible for H-2 work visas.

The conversation also covered potential areas for American investments in Kyrgyzstan. Sydygaliev expressed Kyrgyzstan’
s interest in attracting US investments, particularly in sectors like the green economy, creative industries, and information technology.

In response, Ambassador Viguerie acknowledged the presence of several major US companies in Kyrgyzstan and expressed their interest in expanding cooperation in fields such as information technology, hydroelectric power construction, and agriculture.
