BISHKEK — Aknazar Kenzhebaev of Kyrgyzstan has clinched the world championship title in chessboxing, marking a significant victory for the nation in this hybrid sport. The tournament concluded recently in Italy, where Kenzhebaev emerged victorious against competitors from a host of countries.

According to 24.kg News Agency, Kenzhebaev competed in the under 90 kilograms weight category, defeating participants from Turkey and France en route to the final. In the championship round, he faced and overcame an opponent from Russia to secure the title.

Chessboxing combines the cerebral strategies of chess with the physical endurance of boxing, requiring participants to swiftly switch between rounds of each discipline.
