LACHIN: The completion of the Lachin International Airport is on the horizon, with the project set to finalize in 2025, enhancing the region’s connectivity and tourism prospects.

According to Trend News Agency, Tofig Islamov, acting executive director of the Restoration, Construction, and Management Service in the Lachin region, shared updates on the airport during a panel at the Caspian Construction Week in Baku. Islamov highlighted that the airport construction, which began in 2021, is progressing smoothly and is expected to be operational by the end of the year. The construction includes a runway that is 3,000 meters long and 60 meters wide, situated near the village of Gorchu at an altitude of 1,800 meters, making it one of the highest airports in the post-Soviet region.

The new airport will meet the stringent standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA), ensuring top-tier service and safety for international flights. This devel
