Baku: On December 29, Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and head of the IDEA Public Union, visited the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, APA reports. During her visit, she was welcomed by Amina Malikova, Director of the museum, and artist Emil Aziz.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Leyla Aliyeva first explored Emil Aziz's solo exhibition 'Pattern and Silhouette,' which showcases around 50 works inspired by Azerbaijani carpets. The artworks reinterpret traditional motifs through a contemporary lens, focusing on themes like Garabagh horses and female portraits. The exhibition, which highlights the integration of dynamic silhouettes with carpet motifs, will be open until January 12.

The Vice-President then toured the retrospective exhibition of Faig Ahmed, titled 'Faig Ahmad: 2011-2024'. The exhibition presents key stages of Ahmed's artistic journey, spotlighting his innovative approach to Azerbaijani carpet art. His work merges classical weaving techniques with modern artistic philosophies and visual practices, gaining recognition in leading museums and private collections worldwide.

Leyla Aliyeva also viewed an exhibition dedicated to Latif Karimov, the founder of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum. The display includes Karimov's carpets, original sketches, and archival materials. Visitors were informed that 2026 will mark the 120th anniversary of the prominent artist.

Additionally, Leyla Aliyeva explored the museum's updated third-floor exhibition, which highlights contemporary designer carpets and decorative art by Azerbaijani artists such as Eldar Mikailzada, Eldar Hajiyev, and others. The exhibition features rare ceramics, wood carvings, batik, tapestry, and art glass from the 1970s and 1980s.
