Baku: On December 29, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, accompanied by First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and their daughters, Leyla Aliyeva and Arzu Aliyeva, visited Baku White City.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the visit included an inspection of the Karabakh Horses sculpture complex, which stands as a tribute to Azerbaijan's victory in the Patriotic War and symbolizes the nation's heritage. The complex, located in Karabakh Horses Square, features statues of seven Karabakh horses and was created by American sculptor Robert Summers.

The presidential family also assessed progress in the Babek Quarter, a 31-hectare development that will feature various infrastructure, including a park, school, metro station, and residential buildings. The area is strategically enclosed by Babek Avenue and Khagani Rustamov Street, with Suleyman Vazirov Street providing connectivity via the Khatai metro station.

In addition, President Aliyev and his family planted oak trees in Palid Meydani Park and attended the opening of Zaman Square and its pedestrian bridge. Saleh Mammadov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Agency for Automobile Roads, provided updates on the development works.

Zaman Square, a cultural hub on 8 November Street, features landscaping, fountains, and sculptures by artists such as Konstantin Grcic and Joseph Klibansky. The transformation of the formerly polluted site into Baku White City highlights Azerbaijan's commitment to ecological redevelopment and modern urban planning. Designed on sustainable 'smart city' principles, the district is becoming a premier area for work, living, and leisure, hosting international events like COP29.
