Baku: Young people from all over the world are building bridges between communities, societies, cultures, and other areas of life, Leyla Hasanova, head of the Secretariat at the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organization and Azerbaijan's 'Youth Climate Champion' for COP29, said during the event titled 'Youth and Civil Society Leadership in the Development of Sustainable and Inclusive Cities' organized within the framework of WUF13 in Baku, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Leyla Hasanova emphasized the importance of engaging young people at the earliest stages of decision-making. She noted that involving youth in the process requires more than just listening; it demands genuinely considering their views, consulting with them, and shaping initiatives specifically for their benefit.

Hasanova highlighted that the real participation of young people in decision-making cannot be achieved merely by inviting them to events. She pointed out that broad consultations were held with young people from various countries within the framework of COP29, focusing on how they could effectively participate in processes. Awareness-raising and preparation are crucial to ensuring that youth participation is not just formal, but that young people can make meaningful contributions.

Leyla Hasanova also stated that Azerbaijan's COP29 presidency extended beyond the conference period through various legacy projects. The COP29 Climate Change Summer Camp has been organized for two consecutive years, with plans to continue the project in collaboration with Trkiye's presidency in the future.
