Baku: The Lithuanian Embassy in Azerbaijan hosted an event marking the 108th anniversary of the country's independence. The event began with the performance of the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Lithuania.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Lithuanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Kestutis Va€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬¦¡kelevicius emphasized that Lithuanian statehood was restored in 1918 thanks to the strong will of the people and their heroic struggle for independence. He noted that shared historical experiences bring the peoples of Lithuania and Azerbaijan closer together and create conditions for the formation of strong bonds of solidarity.
Highlighting the history of relations between the two countries, Fariz Rzayev, Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, recalled the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed during President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Lithuania in 2007. He underscored the special role of reciprocal visits by the leaders of both countries in strengthening bilateral relations.
